What CBD product is right for me?

In the past twelve months, it would be almost impossible not to come across the name CBD. Short for Cannabidiol, the compound - derived from the cannabis plant - is everywhere. It is quickly becoming the wellness product of our times and with good reason.

CBD products are appearing in skincare, food and drink, health and wellness and holistic therapy, among others. Here, we’ll do a quick rundown of all the main types of product available in the UK to get you up to speed!

Topicals

First up, there are CBD products that are applied topically. That means they are applied straight onto the skin, whether that’s the face or body. Topicals allow you to put CBD exactly where you want it for long-lasting relief. Many people use these kinds of products for aches and pains, especially around the joints. From salves to balms, lotions and creams, there are products for everyone.

Oils

Oils are one of the most popular CBD products. They are easy to take - just requiring a few drops under the tongue before swallowing (that speeds up absorption). Oils come in a wide range of forms including sprays, drops and tinctures. Some can be added to food and drink or applied topically. Many oils are mixed with other cannabinoids or food extracts like turmeric, rosemary, peppermint, coconut oil, lemon, ginger and honey.

Convenient to take with no need for water, oils are easily digestible, long-lasting and absorb relatively fast, making them a popular all-round choice for daily CBD intake.

Capsules and edibles

Capsules are a great alternative to oils. Oils have a ‘distinctive’ taste that isn’t to everyone’s liking, and capsules can avoid that. They are simply taken with water and are discreet and portable. Capsules make it easy to keep track of dosage because each one contains a defined amount of CBD - in comparison oils required a bit of calculation to get right.

Edible alternatives to capsules include chewy gummies, soft gels and mints, which offer other ways of taking CBD that might suit you better. In all cases, edibles offer long-lasting, convenient CBD delivery.

Vapes and e-liquids

Vaping is the inhaling of a vapour produced by a pen or other device. Vaping has become hugely popular in recent years as the e-cigarette market has grown. Vaping is the fastest means of CBD delivery: while it can take an hour to see effects from ingested products, cannabinoids in vapes bypass the digestive system and start working almost straight away.

Vape pens are long, thin and sometimes stylised tubes - hence the name! They come in any number of designs and styles, so you can choose one that suits you. CBD e-liquids can be used in any standard reusable vape pen. They also make it easy to combine CBD with other flavours like spearmint or lemon.

Everything else

We’ve looked at the most common products on the CBD market, but the range of things that include CBD is growing rapidly. You can find it in tea, coffee, beer, pizza, cooking ingredients, massage oil and many, many other things. Even CBD-assisted yoga classes are springing up!

Whatever form of CBD you use, we’re sure you’ll love it as much as everyone at CBD Porter UK does!
